Me gustaría compartir con vosotros un sitio de Barcelona que me ha encantado desde que llegué en el año 2000. Se trata de un lugar que sale desde hace muy poco en las guías turísticas. Se renovó recientemente pero antes de eso, tuve ocasión de acudir allí por la razón por la cual fue concebido: un hospital. Hay tantos edificios con tantos detalles que resulta casi imposible ir allí sin descubrir algo nuevo cada vez. Muchas de las fotos que comparto ahora con vosotros fueron tomadas a lo largo mis años de estancia en Barcelona, algunas datan de antes de la renovación y otras de después.
I would like to share with you a place in Barcelona that I have liked since I arrived in 2000. It is a place that has been dealt with in the touristic guides only for a few years. It has been recently renovated but before that, I could go there for the reason why it had been conceived: a hospital. There are so many building with so many details that it is nearly impossible to go there without discovering something new each time. Many of the photos I am sharing with you have been taken throughout the years I have lived in Barcelona, some of them were taken before the renovation and others after it.
El Recinto Modernista de Sant Pau fue proyectado por Lluís Domènech i Montaner y construido entre 1902 y 1930. Este conjunto modernista, el más importante de Europa, es una de las obras más destacadas de este estilo en Cataluña y Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO.
The Sant Pau Art Nouveau site was designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaer and built between 1902 and 1930. this Art Nouveau complex, Europe's largest, is one of the most representative works of this style in Catalonia, and is UNESCO World Heritage.
Después de acoger durante más de 80 años el Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, en 2009 se inicia la rehabilitación para convertirse en un centro de conocimiento y poner en valor este tesoro del modernismo catalán.
Having housed the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau for over 80 years, restoration started in 2009 to turn the complex into a knowledge centre and showcase this jewel of Modernisme, the Catalan Art Nouveau.
